NPH UK joins Fondazione Francesca Rava-NPH Italia Onlus in earthquake relief effort
NPH UK is supporting our partner Fondazione Francesca Rava-NPH Italia Onlus, established in Milan over 20 years ago and part of the global NPH network, to bring relief to families affected by the recent devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria.
In emergencies, children always suffer the most. Millions of children across the two countries are in need of urgent humanitarian support as they and their families face a desperate situation. Freezing conditions mean that those who have lost their homes and are living in temporary shelters are particularly vulnerable. They are also at risk of disease due to limited access to clean water and sanitation. Medicine and food are in short supply too.
Working in partnership to help those in need
Fondazione Francesca Rava-NPH Italia Onlus is working with several partners to bring emergency relief to affected families across the region. Collaboration with the Italian Navy and Civil Protection Department, MSC Foundation and MSC Group has enabled the swift delivery of urgently-needed medical supplies, toiletries, toys and crayons for children. Two ships containing aid from NPH Italy have already arrived in Turkish ports for onward distribution to those in need.
NPH Italy is working with partners on the ground Joy For Children and Salaheddini Eyyubi Yardim Dernegi. Efforts focus on supporting families in the southern Turkish provinces of Gaziantep and Kilis. There, the team is distributing aid in the towns of Nurdağı, İslâhiye and Kilis, all severely damaged by the earthquakes that hit on 6th February. They have helped set up a tent camp to provide shelter for women and children, equipped with mattresses, carpets and heaters. Families have also benefitted from hot meals, food parcels, blankets, hygiene kits and baby care products.
With your help, we can reach more children and families before this humanitarian crisis worsens. Your donations will support the relief effort of our NPH partner in Italy, Fondazione Francesca Rava-NPH Italia Onlus.
